Fall Ball Recap

The 2023 Fall Baseball season was a big success!! Over 150 players participated in six age divisions; players worked to build upon baseball fundamentals, learned new field positions and practiced situational baseball skills by playing in weekly games. The fall league offers players the ability to learn in a less competitive environment. This was also a great time for players moving up to a new age division to adjust to the larger field size and new rules.

President’s Corner

Hello TLL families! It’s me again, returning for a second term as your League President. Joining the Board this year are Ryan Chesire, Dave Dial, and Mike Baldestamon. Welcome aboard!

We also have some returning Board members: Jason Albrecht (Fields & equipment)

Ann Bushard (Player Agent)
Mel Espinosa (Coach Coordinator)
Shannon Kagey (Treasurer)
Elise Kolek (Secretary)
Cheryl Marshall (Player Agent, social media)

We are now 10 strong, but looking for 1 more volunteer to fill a Vice President (VP) position. Contact me ([email protected]) if interested.

Spring season is underway! At least, it will be if the weather cooperates! We have 27 teams, 1 more than last year. We consciously strived for smaller teams with only 10-12 players so that your kids can get more playing time. We also modified the mandatory playing rules, which mainly affects Minors/Majors/Juniors, to give managers more flexibility to manage pitchers. You can review Local Rules at our website (tierrasantalittleleague.org) under the “Forms” tab.

As you watch your child’s game, please live by the “Parents Code of Conduct” that you all signed. Remember that the game is for the kids, and the umpire will never get every call right. Be encouraging, and never disparaging. Keep in the mind the end goal to develop character in kids through baseball. In Tierrasanta, we pride ourselves in providing a positive environment for the kids to play all sports.

However, any incidents of parent misbehavior will be dealt with, and could result in being banned from future games. Let’s not go there!

I've received lots of feedback (mostly positive) on the 2023 season, but always open to hearing about your TLL experience -- good or bad. You can send your feedback via email to me or to [email protected].

- Jeff Staggs TLL President

Meet our newest board members

 Dave Dial (Umpire in Chief)

Dave has been a part of Tierrasanta since 2015 moving here with his wife Shanel (Serra grad). Both have enjoyed watching and coaching their two sons (Luke - Minors, Kase - Farm) in TLL since 2019. He is happy to join the board in support of the league that gives the next generation of baseball players the opportunity to learn, compete and enjoy the game!

 Ryan Chesire (Member at Large/Uniforms)

Ryan was born and raised in San Diego and grew up in Tierrasanta playing for TLL on these very same fields. He has two sons and has coached their soccer and baseball teams. He loves sharing his passion for baseball and helping to promote health, sportsmanship and teamwork through sports.

 Mike Baldestamon (Member at Large)

Mike was born in Los Angeles but grew up in Murphy Canyon, attending Hancock Elementary, Farb, and Serra High School. After a hiatus in the Philippines and going back to his roots in Los Angeles, he moved back to San Diego in 2014 and intoTierrasanta with his wife Geovanna, daughter Leilani, and son Evan. He’s proud to give back to the community by coaching baseball, basketball and participating in Cub Scouts.

Safety Corner

The safety and well-being of all participants in the Little League® program is paramount. Little League promotes a player-centric program where young people grow up happy, healthy, and, above all, safe. Starting in 2024, all volunteers will be required to complete Abuse Awareness Training annually (previous requirement was "one and done"). Fortunately, the USA Baseball training that we will use to satisfy this requirement takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Coaches/managers will also be required to complete the Diamond Leader training. Finally, all coaches/managers will be required to complete a “Live Scan”, paid for by TLL.
